  1. The first video, "The Shark that Didn't Work", was really cool. I have seen the film like eight times now and have never really thought about how the shark works, despite the fact I have seen the actual shark used at a studio in California. I also never would of thought about how complex the making of the shark would have been and after hearing all the factors that went into the production. Looking at it now, it is way ahead of its time which just goes to add another element as to why Jaws is an awesome movie.

    1. I totally agree with you 100%. I never really even thought about how difficult the shark would have been to make. It's surprising that it never even entered my brain! After listening to this video, I really think it was cool how they just thought of all these different features that made Jaws into the successful movie it is today.

    2. the entire movie i was thinking how they made the shark. sometimes it would look a bit fake but othertimes it would look real. also when it ate people i would be thinking about how they made those speacial effects.

  2. First Video: The shark that didn’t work

It’s interesting that in the first video they talk about how hard it was to find the right shark. I originally thought that would have been the easiest part even back then. Instead it took several men to move the shark and they kept having to re-shoot because each time something went wrong. I also found it cool that in fresh water the shark was fine but when put into salt water the wiring reacted in a negative way with the water.

Second Video: Jaws the inside story (1/10)

I find it cool that the filmmakers wanted to make it a meaningful horror movie/ adventure story that focused on the humanity of the characters more than the horror aspect. And the fact that Steven Spielberg, who has made very deep and complex movies, said that shooting this film was the hardest production he’s ever experienced, and hearing one of the greatest filmmakers of all time say that, made me realize that this is more than just a shark movie.

    1. Totally man! I agree that this is definately not just a shark movie. It has characters that you trust and want learn more about and when each of their lives are threatened, you feel sympathy.

    2. just because it could be classified as a horror movie doesnt exactly make it supposed to be scary. even horror movie have that plot to it not just some guy or shark going around killing people for no reason. like jaws had a great reason it wasnt just something really random

    3. Agreed with you Richie. Every time I hear the term "horror", I wish people weren't to jump to the conclusion that somebody is going to let out a deafening scream and a man is going to peer in through the windows. The horror of this came in with the reality of the situation, and I really loved it.

  3. Wow. I thought that first video was really interesting on how the shark didn't work.
It's funny because I honestly believe it was for the best that the shark didn't work, like Spielberg said. The shark not being fully added to every scene really added a bit more drama and no "fake hollywood" stuff. I really liked Jaws the way it is now and I feel like if the shark had worked, Jaws wouldn't be as successful just because I feel like the shark wouldn't have looked realistic enough. In the scene of the barrels tied on the shark, it added a better effect than it just being the fin of the shark. It was different and unique.

    1. Yeah, I can see where you coming from. In that, the more you didn't see the shark, the more anxious you were as to its appearence.

    2. even though really it was fake hollywood stuff because they didnt take a real shark out to the ocean and have it eat people. i didnt use those crappy speacial effects. it wasnt a graphic it was physically there.

  4. I think the most interesting video was the shark that didnt work because it shows how hard these people actually worked to make this movie as real as posible. obviously they didnt use and computer graphics for the shark and i think that is what makes it look the best. the fact that the shark was there in person and the fact that the entire movie was filmed on location and not in some movie studio infront of a green screen is what make all of the elements stand out it makes everything in this amazing movie look amazing in intself

  5. I wonder that if they used a green screan for shark then how would it look like and would guys still think its a good movie. Think about it, they put a higher quilty green screan version of the shark than what would movie be like. More gore, more shots of shark what do you guys think.

    1. if they used a green SCREEN then it wouldnt look as real it would be to "hollywoodized" theres not much more gore you could have added to it because when peiople died it was in the water and the water just turns red end of story. but on the boat i think the showed the amount of gore actually was fine to much more would have really made it fake.
